We Do All We Can To Alleviate Your Fear
The idea of having any kind of surgery can be daunting. Our dentists provide multiple sedation options for all our dental procedures. Our most recommended is IV Sedation for our more comprehensive surgeries. To ease your worries, our staff provides patients with the most comfortable experience possible, while reassuring them every step of the way. Having placed over 300 implants, Dr. Sadiq offers guided surgery using state-of-the-art tools, including iTero and Medit intraoral scanner, 3D printers and CBCT imaging technology. Including the latest technology, our dentists are trained in the latest techniques and keep your surgery as minimally invasive as possible. We take extra measures at Pleasant Valley Dentistry to make you comfortable at your appointment, too, so you can feel relaxed and calm during your procedures.
Our Oral Surgery Procedures
Ridge Augmentation
During a ridge augmentation procedure, we place a graft of tissue or bone to fill the space left by a missing tooth. Doing this will create a healthy base for dental implants. This type of procedure is often performed immediately following extraction in order to reduce any potential bone loss. This augmentation leaves you with a smooth gum line that easily coexists with your new restoration or dental implant.
Sinus Lift
Also referred to as a sinus augmentation, a sinus lift is performed by an oral surgeon to add bone mass to the upper portion of your jaw area. This type of procedure may be necessary for any patients who have decided on dental implants but don't have enough actual bone mass in the jaw area above the molars and premolars to support an implant. In such situations, a sinus lift makes it possible for a patient to have dental implants placed.
Wisdom Teeth Extraction
An extraction is a surgical procedure that is used to remove one or more of your wisdom teeth. We often recommend a surgical extraction if any of the teeth are severely broken down, ankylosed (the root of a tooth is permanently connected to the jaw), or impacted. In this case, you will be referred to an oral and maxillofacial surgeon to perform the procedure. All patients receiving this extraction are given a local anesthetic that completely numbs the area of the tooth, as well as surrounding tissues.
Bone Grafting
A dental bone graft is a procedure that is used to add volume and density to your jaw in certain areas where bone loss may have occurred. This type of procedure involves taking bone – either from the back of the patient’s jaw, a donor bank, or other source – which is then placed at the site of resorption. The sourced block of bone is often held in place with small titanium screws.
Pterygoid implants
Pterygoid implants use residual bone for implant anchorage, to overcome the need for augmentation procedures. A pterygoid implant encompasses the tuberosity region and engages the pterygoid plate.
Zygomatic implants
Unlike conventional dental implants, which are secured in the jawbone, zygomatic dental implants are surgically placed in the zygomatic (cheek) bones. With support coming from a strong, stable facial bone, these dental implants do not require alterations of the jawbone (such as bone grafting) to support a bridge of fixed teeth. Zygomatic implants are one of the most complex surgeries in implant dentistry, and few oral surgeons are trained in this procedure. Dr. Zaki Sadiq places zygomatic dental implants on a routine basis in Mount Laurel, NJ.
Zygomatic implants offer the following benefits:
● Fewer surgeries required
● A secure, lifelike bridge of teeth
● Reliable, long-term function
● Immediate teeth (in most cases)
