Adjusting to wearing dentures in Moorestown

Moorestown dentures

If you have a row of teeth that need to be replaced, you should get treatment at our dental practice, Pleasant Valley Family Dentistry. Many patients come to our office to get Moorestown dentures, and will be expertly treated by one of our top-notch dentists, one of whom is Dr. Zaki Sadiq.

When you get Moorestown dentures at our office, you may be getting partial dentures, complete dentures, or implant-supported dentures. Our dentist will assess your individual situation and let you know which type of dentures should work best for you. However, whichever type of denture you do end up with, there will be an adjustment period for wearing your dentures. But, you should be heartened to know that this adjustment period will only last for a short time and soon you will be feeling perfectly comfortable with your attractive, fully-functional and well-fitting dentures that you received at our office. When you first begin to wear your dentures, do not feel surprised if they feel a bit awkward in your mouth; in fact, this is to be expected. It may be recommended that you only eat soft foods during this initial period. You should then eat foods which are not particularly hard; be sure to cut them into small pieces for easier chewing. You will also want to be sure that you chew on both sides of your mouth so that the dentures do not put uneven pressure on one side of your jaw. When you remove your dentures at night, or reinsert them in the morning, you will want to make sure that you have a soft towel placed over the side of the sink or table so that if your dentures do fall, they will not fall on a hard surface and break. If your dentures ever do break, make an emergency appointment to bring them in so that our dentist can examine your dentures, and possibly be able to fix them on the spot.
